So this is my list of "mods" that I intend to do on my car, as I said I have a second cars internals so the goal will be to maintain all original parts, and take advantage of both the SS and the Deluxe models running on very similar chassis with only a few differences.

My super luxury items include - air conditioning. In my climate, it is definitely on the desirable things to have in a motor vehicle.

14" Moon disc, clip on.

My imitation moon discs, I chose these over the original aluminium discs as they are a brushed stainless steel which matches the bumpers and the use of stainless steel across the car. They were also cheaper. Which was a bonus.

Twin Nikki carby 1500ss setup

I received this in the mail from the eastern states today, very excited about it and am going to keep it for my spare engine, which I will do a little tweaking too. If I am able to get it running. It lacks compression in one cylinder, fingers crossed its a busted ring, but then again, have been down that thought process before.

This is my donor car, I believe it is a first generation Mazda 1500SS, it has been sitting in a paddock for the last ten years so has some of natures decay - unfortunately the A pillars are rusted almost completely through and is beyond saving - nearly every other part has been saveable.

This block is marked as UB which is the standard 1500 engine, though the head on it is oddly configured when comparing it to another UB engine - this leads me to believe that it is either a 1500SS head - which I haven't seen before or an 1800 head.

The new front end disc break and power breaking setup will be a very good modification to carry across. - New rotors and a reconditioning of the slave cylinders is needed.

Here a a few front and backs of the car - it has a few rust patches, unfortunately it has been stored outside for the last 3 years and has developed some ferrous oxide character - luckily though I have sourced a complete new set of panels for the beast, to put it back to its pre rust glory. Plus a little bit more.

I have amassed a large number of parts for the build - my end goal will be to have two cars internally. Allowing for a transition between the 1500ss configuration and the 1500 Deluxe configuration. As both cars are based on the same plateform and almost all parts are interchangeable, this allows me to modify as well as retain the ability, if i need in the future to revert back.

The 1500ss gearbox has slightly better ratios, and this one, pulled from a wreck (approximately 10 years old) is in very good shape. I believe due to the gaskets condition that it has been reconditioned recently. It is smooth and the syncromesh seems to be intact.

Since taking these photos I have installed the gearbox into the car and taken it for a drive - it is in a very good condition which is a real bonus.

My Mazdas a.k.a the mess in the yard.

In 2007 at the age of 17 I got my driving licence, it was a big a day as any for a year twelve. That next day on my first trip to school, red P's blazing I rear ended a trailer. While at 17 I could put every excuse on paper for my bonnet-trailer panel beating my parents maintained that I drove to fast - hey the were probably right. Anyway, a friends mini cooper got me onto the car genre. I was after a Datto 1600 first, the engine was in pieces, but it was licensed and ready to go according to the bloke, then came a Ford Escort mk1 which only had 1 elderly driver apparently, who managed to get a bit of panel damage on a pole. Eventually my old man got me away from those two. I have never been into Holdens or Fords in general though was keeping my eye out for a classic. The 1969 Mazda 1500 was pointed out to me as a classic by my old man - ill bet he never thought I would get it.

In 2010 I came home with the 1969 Mazda 1500 for $2700 apparently registered - blowing a bit of smoke, which we were assured was a worn ring. Anyway - turned out the car was only club registered and that the worn ring was the third cylinder which looked like it had been aspirated with nuts rather than air and fuel. So became a restoration project - not quite expected but a challenge non the less.
